Finding your size, three ways.

Before you measure: three things that cause most errors

A wide band fits tighter than a thin one at the same measurement. If you take a 15 in a thin band, you may need a 15.5 or 16 in a wide flat band like the Triad Ring. This is the single most common mistake.

Fingers change size through the day and through the year. Smallest in the morning and in cold weather, largest in the afternoon and in summer heat, and the difference can be a full size. Measure in the evening, at normal room temperature, and size for the larger reading. A ring you cannot get on in May is not a ring.

Your two hands are different sizes, usually by a quarter to half a size, and usually the dominant hand is larger. Measure the finger you actually intend to wear it on.

Method 1: measure a ring you already own

The most accurate method, if you have a ring that fits the right finger.

1. Place the ring on a ruler with millimetre markings
2. Measure the inside diameter, edge to edge, across the widest point
3. Find that diameter in the table below

Method 2: the thread or paper strip method

1. Cut a strip of paper about 5mm wide, or use a piece of non-stretchy thread
2. Wrap it around the base of the finger, snug but not tight. You should be able to slide it off over the knuckle with slight resistance
3. Mark where it overlaps, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres
4. That length is the inside circumference. Find it below.

Do this two or three times, on different occasions, and take the largest reading. A single measurement is a guess.

Method 3: the printable gauge

Conversions between systems are approximate at the half-size level. Where a measurement falls between two sizes, take the larger.

Bracelets

Strand Bracelet. An adjustable slider clasp, fitting roughly 15cm to 21cm. This covers most wrists and means you do not need a size, which is why it is the safest piece to buy as a gift.

Wave Cuff and Oculus Cuff. Open cuffs that slide on over the narrowest part of the wrist and flex slightly. To check: wrap a tape measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone. Message us for the cuff size range.

Because a cuff flexes, it will loosen gradually over years of wear and can be gently closed by hand. Do not open and close a cuff repeatedly for fun, because metal fatigues.

Chain and pendant lengths

For reference when we add necklaces:

Earrings

No sizing needed. All our earrings are standard post or standard French hook fittings. Drop lengths are on each product page as we confirm them: Confirmed on request.

The Petal Drop uses an open hook with no clasp, which can slide out over a long day. A clear silicone stopper on the wire solves it completely and is invisible. Two pairs are included with every order.

If you are between sizes, or unsure

Message us. Send the measurement you took and how you took it, and we will tell you which size to order. We would much rather spend five minutes on this than have you post a ring back.

Resizing

Plain bands, like the Lucent Ring, can usually be resized up or down by one to two sizes.

Bands with stones set into them often cannot be resized at all, because resizing distorts the settings.
