What it actually is
Rose quartz gets its pink from microscopic mineral inclusions suspended through the crystal. Those same inclusions make it cloudy, which is why it is cut as a smooth dome rather than faceted: there is nothing to be gained from moving light through a stone you cannot see into.
How it looks in different light
Best in soft, indirect daylight, where the cloudiness reads as depth. Strong direct light flattens it. Against warm skin it almost disappears, which some people like.
Natural characteristics
Colour is usually pale; a strong pink is unusual and often another material. Wisps and swirls inside the stone are characteristic. Prolonged sunlight can fade it.
Durability and care
Durable but fadeable. Warm soapy water, soft cloth, and store it away from direct light.

Traditional associations
In crystal traditions Rose Quartz is most often connected with love and calm. In Vedic astrology the stone is associated with Shukra, Venus.
